İstanbul Üniversitesi Cerrahpaşa Tıp Fakültesi Ortopedi ve Travmatoloji AD Local resection for 13 malign and 17 benign tumors were performed in 30 patients, who applied to University of Istanbul, Cerrahpaşa School of Medicine, Orthopaedics and Traumatology Clinic between 1971 - 1985. Local resection may be, in certain circumstances, an acceptable alternative to amputation for the management of active or aggressive benign lesions, low-grade and selected high-grade sarcomas of bone. The margin for the local resection Can be determined before surgery in most instances by correlating the extent of the tumor demonstrated by conventional roentgenography, isotope scanning, computerized tomography and angiography with the known predilection of that tumor to invade-the the surrounding tissues, to spread through intermuscular planes, or to produce skip lesions within affected bone.
