CASES WITH THYMOMA WHO HAD RADIOTHERAPY

Fifty four patient were retreated to İ.Ü. Institute of Oncology between January 1986 and December 2000 and 41 of these patient received postoperative or curative radiotherapy. Two patients were Stage I and further treatment. Two other patients with the diagnosis of indifferantiated carcinoma were excluded from the study. Eight patients who were Stage lib were treated with chemotherapy. 26 patients were male and 15 were female. Male to female ratio was 1.7:1. The youngest patient was 16 and the oldest patient was 72 year old (median age=41). According to Masaoka staging 18 patients Stage II, 18 Patients Stage III and 5 patients had Stage IVa disease. The most common combine was symptoms due to myastenia gravis detected in 28 patients. One of the patients was out of follow up after radiotherapy ended. Follow up time was 2-109 months (median 40 months). Seven-year overall survival is 80.2%. Keywords : thymoma radiotherapy
