RESULTS OF RADIATION THERAPY IN T1N0M0 GLOTTIC CARCINOMA

Radyasyon Onkolojisi AD A total of 69 patients with T1NOMO carcinoma of the glottic larynx are treated by radiation alone at the radiation oncology Clinic of the Medical Faculty, of the Ankara University, between 1980 and 1989. All patients received radiotherapy primarily with curative intend Surgery is reserved for reccurrences. In the follow-up period, 7 patients had local recurrence, and 2 of them were salvaged by surgery. In 2 patients there was only regional failure, and they were salvaged by surgery. Local control rate was % 90, and loco-regional control rate was % 87. Ultimate loco-regional control after surgical salvage was % 93. In this report factors influencing local control (treatment volume, radiation dose, mucosal extend of the lesion, anterior commissure involvement) are discussed. Keywords :
