Ankara Tıp Fakültesi, Radyasyon Onkolojisi AD, Ankara Twelve patients with juvenile nasopharyngeal angiofibroma were treated in the department of Radiation Oncology, Ankara University Medical School, between 1980 and 1990. Follow-up ranged between 21 and 95 months (median:41 months). Ten of the patients received radiation therapy as initial treatment and the other 2 patients received radiotherapy after unsuccesful embolization procedures. Fifty percent of our patients were at stage 3 and the other 50% were at stage 4. Radiation doses ranged between 2400 and 5100 cGy. Tumors were controlled in all of the patients. No severe complication and secondary malignancy have been observed. Radiation therapy is an appropriate and safe therapeutic approach to patients with extensive disease or intracianial extention.
