CASE REPORT OF A PATIENT WITH FOUR PRIMARY TUMORS AND EVALUATION OF OUR PATIENTS WITH MULTIPLE PRIMARIES

F.B. is a 50 year old man. He had a left cerebellar operation on 5/3/90. The pathology was "metastatic papillary adenocarcinoma". He had second operation as a thyroidectomy on 19/2/91, pathology was "follicular adenoma". Third operation was bilateral adrenalectomy on 19/2/92, pathology was "left adrenal adenocarcinoma metastas, right adrenal myelolipoma". Forth operation was from left recurrent adrenal tumor on 28/10/92, pathology was "papillary adenocarcinoma". Fifth operation was from bladder. The pathology of the tumor was "transitional cell carcinoma" on 27/5/93. 6th operation was larengectomy and the pathology was "epidermoid carcinoma" on 9/8/93. The last biopsy was done from chest. Pathology was "squamous cell carcinoma" on 14/12/93. 5 second primary patients selected from 843 patients from the radiotherapy department among 1990-93 were also discussed. 1: Bronchial epidermoid carcinoma- Bladder transitional cell carcinoma. 2: Larengeal poorly differentiated epidermoid carcinoma- Rectal adenocarcinoma. 3: Cervix uteri squamous cell carcinoma- Breast infiltrative ductal carcinoma. 4: Hodgkin lymphoma- Breast infiltrative ductal carcinoma. 5: Non-Hodgkin lymphoma- Differentiated chondrosarcoma. The percentage of the second primaries in the same histopathological group are, breast cancer 1.01%, carcinoma of the uterine cervix 1.75%, laryngeal cancer 0.82%, rectal cancer 9.09%, bladder cancer 1.51 %, lung cancer 1.42%, lymphoma 2.98%, chondrosarcoma 5%.
